Her answer? “I just threw everything on a sheet pan.” As you can imagine, that was not very helpful, but I was able to put my own spin on it for you. It’s a very quick and easy dish, and the steak comes out incredibly juicy and tender.

Ingredients

  • 2 red bell peppers, deseeded and sliced into thick rounds
  • 2 large onions, peeled and sliced into thick rounds
  • 2 (12-oz [340-g]) boneless rib eye steaks, room temperature
  • ¼ cup (57 g) butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil
  • 4 tsp (10 g) steak seasoning, divided

How to make Steak And Peppers Dinner

  1. Position the oven rack about 6 inches (15 cm) from the heat source and preheat the broiler to high.
  2. Spread the bell peppers and onions on a large sheet pan. Add the steak on top of the vegetables. Mix the butter and olive oil together in a small bowl. Brush about half of the mixture onto the steaks and season each steak with 1 teaspoon of steak seasoning.
  3. Transfer the sheet pan to the oven and broil for 7 minutes, or until the tops of the steaks are brown and sizzling. Remove the pan from the oven, flip the steaks and repeat the same steps: Brush the remaining butter and oil mixture all over the steaks and season each one with 1 teaspoon of steak seasoning.
  4. Return the sheet pan to the oven and broil for 4 to 5 minutes. Following these instructions will result in medium-rare steak. For medium, cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes per side. Tent the steaks with foil and allow them to rest for at least 5 minutes. Slice the steaks and serve with the roasted peppers and onions.
