Garlic-Ginger Chicken Wings Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs (907 g) chicken wings
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) plus 1 tsp sesame oil, divided
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml) coconut aminos
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) harissa sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, grated
  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp (6 g) grated ginger
  • Chopped scallions and sesame seeds, to garnish

How to make Garlic-Ginger Chicken Wings

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C, or gas mark 7). Spray a large sheet pan with avocado oil spray and set it aside.
  2. Toss the chicken wings with sea salt, black pepper and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of sesame oil. Transfer the wings to the prepared sheet pan and bake the chicken for 20 to 25 minutes. Flip the chicken about halfway through the cooking process.
  3. In the meantime, make the glaze by mixing the remaining 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, coconut aminos, harissa sauce, garlic, crushed red pepper flakes and ginger in a small bowl and stirring to combine.
  4. Remove the chicken from the oven and turn the oven to broil. Pour the glaze over the chicken wings and toss to coat. Again, spread the chicken out in a single layer and return them to the oven. Continue to cook the chicken under the broiler for 5 to 7 minutes.
  5. Garnish with scallions and sesame seeds.
